Coffee Shop Blues

The rain outside, I hear it fall
I watch each droplet, each so small
But all together they do crash down
Chaotic patterns flying down
Two earnest lovers sit and stare
They wonder whether it will fare
They think of love and wonder too
If what they have is really true
The tired old lady sweeps the floor
Asking herself what this is for
Why work so hard and fight each day
She wants to leave but has to stay
He drinks his coffee, a lonely rider
Staring at the rain, his eyes get wider
His thoughts race too, so much confusion
He sits, and waits for some illusion
The blender rumbles with the ice
The bartender just thinks of dice
Of how he lost the lottery
That spark he yearns for, that inner chi
I sit here too, and this is true
I think and wonder about life too
Of this and that and if and how
I don’t want answers though, not now
I want to sit here in my chair
Observing the delightful fare
On this o very rainy day
When in my book, life’s more than just ok.
I wrote this 2 years ago, and I am feeling the same emotions today.
